engaging the creative

To live a creative life is an act of courage.

Most people, unless they’re involved in the Arts, will say they are not creative. But being creative is just that, it is a way of being. It is an open, expansive way of being in the world - a practice of aliveness and exploration and engagement and expression that continually pushes the boundaries of the ordinary. It is consciously altering our perception to see and experience things in new ways and opening ourselves to all kinds of possibilities.

In consciously choosing the Creative, we begin to live life on our own terms, acting on our passions, pursuing what speaks to us and figuring out how to make it our life’s work. Living creatively is about the choices we make: our career path (our calling), how we show up in the workplace; how we raise our children; how we engage in relationships; how we greet the day; how we care for ourselves; what our living space looks like; what we stand for...It’s about living a larger experience everyday -  so much larger than our to do list.

Being creative and acting from the creative gives birth to something new in ourselves. It requires us to let go of the rigid and narrow - mindset, viewpoints, limiting beliefs and behaviors - and allow for flexibility and flow. We cultivate the ability to tolerate and embrace the unpredictable and also have respect for a certain amount of chaos and disorder.  Nietzsche said, “One must still have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star”.

Together, we will take a look at the kinds of choices you are making and why; what it would mean to you to live a creative life; how your priorities might be different; what your daily life might look like engaging with the creative and and a whole host of other questions to expand your vision and open yourself to new possibilities.
